The Sundance Film Festival is infamous for starting the careers of many young actors and filmmakers. With the 2013 festival kicking off tomorrow, we find one of our very own, Ronen Rubinstein, starring in It Felt Like Love - which will make its debut at Sundance. Written and directed by Eliza Hittman, the film is set on the outskirts of Brooklyn and surrounds the life of a 14-year-old girl whose sexual quest takes a dangerous turn when she pursues an older guy, testing the boundaries between obsession and love. Ronen plays the role of Sammy, a kid from the rough neighborhoods of Brooklyn, trying to straighten out his life.

Growing up in Staten Island, New York, Israeli born Ronen Rubinstein knew he wanted to be an actor at a fairly young age. He decided to attend New York Film Academy’s One Year Acting Program after his senior year of high school. “I knew NYFA would give me the best experience and opportunities to learn as much as I can as an actor,” said Rubinstein. “My overall experience at NYFA is eye opening, enlightening, and ultimately incredible.”

Rubinstein became involved with the film through his management with Shirley Grant. After numerous callbacks and hard work, Ronen landed the role of Sammy. Now, this Friday, Ronen will be in attendance at his Sundance premiere in Salt Lake City.
